Matsugane Yôko's latest twin releases (yes, that would be a pair of DVDs, not her breasts), Chichi Mamire and Chichi Gurui, could be considered complimentary releases, thematically speaking. The latter has Yōko in a very submissive, passive role – she is tied up and harassed in pretty much every scene. In contrast, Chichi Mamire portrays her as no less than a total sexpot, with no hint of shyness or self-doubt. Usually, idols are portrayed with a kind of hyper-femininity – lots of giggling and shy over the shoulder glances – aggressiveness is not part of the game plan. Yōko throws those ideas out the window and goes for the jugular (or, perhaps, another body part). Following along the same path as her other recent DVDs like Ultimate, Chichi Mamire opts to provide Yōko fans with more risque material.

Many of the problems present in Chichi Gurui are also present here, the most obvious being the length. The glamour portion runs at almost 80 minutes over the course of nine tracks: generally speaking, most of the tracks run too long, the most egregious one being the closer, which clocks in at around thirteen minutes. Due to the limited nature of the genre, things start to drag when you see same the posing routine over and over again. Speaking of which, if you've been following Yōko's recent releases, you'll have heard the entire soundtrack before on her recent disc. I don't think it would have killed them to get a few new music tracks for the scene, especially considering the you will often hear at least two different songs on each track due to their length. On the technical side of things, the transfer is generally fine, but there are noticeable compression artifacts to be seen, especially on tracks with darker lighting. The sound engineering also is somewhat below par... Yōko often speaks on the tracks, but the ambient noise often makes it difficult to hear what she is saying. Admittedly, this will make less of a difference to you if you can't understand Japanese, but it bugged the hell out of me.

You might be thinking to yourself that I didn't like the disc after all that. I'll add one more gripe to that list: if you have seen any of Yōko's releases from Body Scandal onwards, you have already seen most of this release, some of the scenes almost shot-for-shot. So to sum up: too long, recycled scenes and soundtrack and questionable video and soundtrack mastering. So why I why did I have a hard time looking away? All these problems were quite acceptable in the face of Yōko herself, who generally carried herself with her usual grace and sexiness. Wearing some of the smallest outfits in her career, it's obvious that Yōko has regained a lot of the curviness and softness which she had lost when she reappeared last year.

The disc opens with Yōko wearing a shiny gold bikini in a very stark setting – a featureless concrete hallway. She slinks and vamps her way down the seemingly endless hallway, up some stairs and corners, all the while putting on a stellar performance – caressing her body with graceful feminine movements. Great camera work here – lots of different shots and angles ensure you get maximum coverage of Yōko. The next scene (obviously still in the same building, as the featureless concrete walls are still present) has Yōko wearing a red, PVC body suit with a zipper running from the neck all the way around to her ass. She asks viewer “What do you want to see?”, feigning ignorance, all the while playing with the costume's zipper. After a little bit of sexy posing and some more taunting, Yōko lies down on a leather couch and undoes the zipper and proceeds to cover up her gigantic boobs with her hands, although at the beginning of the routine, there seems to be one point where left boobs is almost revealed, but she must have realized that, because she quickly moves to cover it. To her credit, she never breaks eye-contact or falters in her movement. In short, the first couple of scenes hit all the right notes and were fantastic, despite being a little long.

Let's see if you can guess where track three is going: it involves Yōko and series of bananas. Well, if you guessed the now standard simulated fellatio scene... you're kind of right. Dressed in a monokini, Yōko does indeed place the fruits between her incredible cleavage (including the camera shooting upwards through a glass table as she presses the banana between her tits) as well as do a little simulated oral, but this scene has a vicious streak to it – Yōko, in a series of violent banana attacks, she smashes all three of the phallic symbols to a pulp, even using her high heels at one point. Not my cup of tea, but it takes all kinds. An odd inclusion in the track is Yōko running from room to room as she hold the camera upwards. Okay, it's obvious as to why it was done (close ups of her boobs flopping along) but it just seemed out of place. The next scene returns to more traditional gravure territory, and finds Yōko in a set of pink lingerie in a well lit bed room. There is nothing you haven't seen here before (they even do the POV cowboy position like in Chichi Shigure, but is well done, although Yōko seems a little disinterested at one point which spoils the illusion. The following scene is also a recent idol cliche – the model in a bathtub rubs sticky fluids over herself. Two things of note here: first, due to the small size of her top (she's wearing some lingerie which clings nicely to her curves), her already huge boobs look even more enormous. Secondly, there is no soundtrack at all, leaving only the noise of the water and Yōko splashing around. Given that this is one of the few tracks where Yōko doesn't speak, this could have used some background music to accompany the visuals – the scene felt incomplete without it. Still, its hard to argue with a wet, sticky Yōko vamping and showing off her wonderful face and incredible body.

The next scene starts off Yōko wearing a black bikini underneath a skin-tight lace body suit posing around a living room on a couch and table while some horrid rap music plays. About four minutes, however, the body suit starts to come off: while grunting breathing heavy, Yōko begins to literally rip through the lace, doing a sort of odd strip tease routine which works quite well. It takes another four minutes to totally rip off the body suit, but that's time well spent. The next track is one of the longer ones, but is easily the best track on the DVD: shot from first person, the track opens in a classroom. Yōko walks in as the teacher – very tight white shirt, short skirt complete with stockings, her hair done up and glasses. This is the least amount of flesh she has exposed on the disc, but is the sexiest she's ever looked. She announces that today's subject is “What is Chichi Mamire?” For the next ten minutes, Yōko gives the most fascinating lesson ever devised as she slowly disrobes down to her bra and panties by the end, all in the name of education. The camera work here captures every sensuous movement and sly glance. Plus, the sound crew finally got it right – every purr and nuance in Yōko's throaty delivery can be heard clearly. This one is very talk heavy, but it when Yōko encourages you to use the pointer to show her various body parts, it's one of the best things on the disc. Your enjoyment maybe slightly diminished without some knowledge of Japanese.

The penultimate scene has Yōko in a tiny, frilly bikini in a sort of rundown room. It starts off as an enjoyable if formulaic gravure scene. Then she brings out the massager and, of course, it happens to be hand held and pink. After running it along various body parts, the very short final part of the scene has her playing with a long light tube. The final scene contains Yōko in her smallest bikini yet, a very brief leopard print number. When I say small, I mean small... her top barely covers her power breasts. In any case, the gist of this scene is Yōko rubbing stuff all over her body: milk, whipped cream, some kind of yogurt, pudding. For the most part, this works absolutely great (although the pudding was kind of silly)... she rubs her body down in a slow, sensual manner, licks some of the stuff off of herself all the while maintaining great eye contact. It looks like she nearly bursts out that top a couple of times as well. The problem? The scene is just too long – at thirteen minutes in length, there is simply not enough for Yōko to do here. Still, this one is very erotic, only bested by the teacher scene.

The making of track pretty much a standard behind the scenes stuff: Yōko chats with the staff, there are some photoshoot scenes, does a few small interviews. Then, on a dare from one of the staff members, she pours hot wax from a candle on herself, which is actually pretty amusing. Everyone seems to be in pretty good spirits, so if you like these kind of tracks, you'll enjoy this one.

Chichi Mamire has a lot going for it and fans of Yōko, and fans of buxom beauties in general, will find there are some truly awe inspiring scenes. However, the noticeable flaws in editing and the overly long running time makes me feel that there was potential to make the disc even better than it is with a little more work in the engineering studio. On a more personal note, the whole push-the-envelope/pseudo-porn thing is getting old – whatever happened to the Yōko who was just plain fun to watch, who was sexy in a more innocent way rather than playing the sexpot constantly? Variety is the spice of life. Missed potential or not, Chichi Mamire delivers the goods in a nice, Yōko-sized package which will get you hot and bothered.
