Love Affair
Natsume Rio's extended ten month absence from making gravure idol material doesn't seem to have any negative impact on her work – her most recent double releases, Love Affair and Freedom, showcase a Rio who not only looks better than ever she ever but is supremely confident and comfortable in front of the camera. And, much like its twin release, the director of Love Affair is obsessed with Rio's boobs. Of course, most of Rio's fans are obsessed with them as well, so this can only be a good thing.
Or can it? The same criticism applied to Freedom can be applied here as well: one of the things which separates Rio-chan from most of the other big bust idols (and idols in general) is that she has become of the few who really shines when interacting with the camera, and, let's face it... it's hard to interact with someone when all they are doing is staring obsessively at your chest. So while the extended shots of Rio's perfect melons are appreciated, its a little disappointing that the director didn't pull back the camera and let her charm you with her personality as well as her body. Still, it's hard to argue with a face full of Rio's breasts, so this is a minor quibble.
Love Affair runs at roughly an hour and contains ten glamour tracks, plus the credits and assorted extras. Starting off fairly conventionally, we find Rio doing a sexy, slow dance in a front of a wall of thick glass, backlit with a blue light. She's wearing a silk bra and and thong set as well as a very long scarf. Although not exactly original, the camera shows us all the right curves of Rio's incredible body and her performance will get your temperature rising. Next up, Rio is in bed wearing a grey tank top (with lots of cleavage showing) and some cute panties with a heart pattern. Her keitai rings, and after a short conversation (she has to go to work), she proceeds to “work out”. As you might expect, the exercise routine has very little to do with exercise everything to do with letting the camera shoot Rio's jiggling boobs from multiple angles. Rio hams it up and the scene is quite cute. After another phone call, the next scene beings with Rio, wearing a tight t-shirt and some Daisy Dukes – she enters “your” room, makes a little small talk, then as she sits on the bed, the camera begins to get ever closer to her, at which point, she begins asking “What? What's wrong? Wait a second...” giggling all the while. Music cuts in and off comes the shirt to reveal a frilly bra which barely covers her massive boobs. Rio poses and pouts on the bed in very sensual manner. Close ups make up the majority of the shots here, but everything is well done, balancing Rio's graceful movements with the obvious fetish shots of her tits and ass.
Going from sensual to in-your-face sexy, Rio's in the shower next, dressed in a black bikini (with one of the smallest tops she's ever worn). Not exactly original, but this scene is guaranteed to stick in your mind for some time to come: absolutely breathtaking shots of Rio as she vamps and preens for the camera – running her hands over her body, pressing her boobs against the glass she makes eyes at the camera. Add to that the end of the scene where she unties her top and is left clutching the tiny scraps of cloth over her chest and you have an absolutely killer track. Rio walks into a bar... no, it's not the beginning of a joke, but the next track. Wearing a very low cut, floral print dress (low cut is actually something of an understatement), Rio continues to use the sexy persona as she poses and slinks around the bar. Although she looks drop dead gorgeous here, the camera work is very limited here and you'll see the same shots and angles more than a few times throughout the track which makes things a little monotonous – I'm guessing they didn't have much room to move in the bar. Following that we have Rio in a one-piece bathing suit in another exercise-themed track. The first minute or so is dedicated solely to Rio riding one of those mechanical-bull-type of exercise machines – lots of chest close-ups for obvious reasons. The remainder of the scene has her doing various stretches with an elastic rope. This one didn't really work – Rio seemed kind of unfocused in places, the camera was quite pedestrian and the swimsuit wasn't that flattering.
We're back in the bathroom next, with Rio in a print bikini as she bathes in a tub. She runs some water over herself as the camera does various zoom-ins on her chest. For most of the track, there's no backing music, just the sound of the water and Rio's voice. Then she stands up on the tub and begins to undo her top as the music kicks in and she grabs a white fluffy towel from off screen. Wrapping the towel around herself, she completely removes her top and dangles it in front of the camera in a teasing manner. As she is removing her top, there are some electrifying shots of her boobs from the side and behind, but track is slow to get going. Continuing the theme in the next track, Rio wanders into the living room, towel still wrapped around herself. Deftly changing in to a yukata, she poses and teases on the couch as she rubs lotion into her skin, nearly spilling out of the robe on various occasions – at one point, the director must have told her that she was about to reveal a nipple, and, without missing a beat or losing eye contact, Rio quickly moves her hand to cover up her boobs. So close, yet so far. Great scene, if a little slow moving.
In the penultimate track, Rio rises up from the ground in an old freight elevator, wearing a gold bikini and a see through wrap. Really annoying dance music blares, and Rio dances and poses in the stark setting. She looks great here, and track is generally well put together if a little generic. If you like hanging boobs though, you'll find this one really caters to you, Rio spends over half of the track on all fours, and camera is not shy about getting up close with her pendulous mammaries. The final track opens with Rio looking out a hotel window with her back to us. She turns towards the camera, walks forward and asks “What are you looking at?” Bear in mind she's wearing a ridiculously small lingerie set with her boobs spilling out of her tiny bra, so its kind of a stupid question. She then poses and teases on the bed in a very slow moving track. Perhaps due to the background music (a piano piece), there is more romantic feel to this one than any of the preceding scenes.
As usual, there is a behind-the-scenes track which also contains an extended intro to the third track. The credits track might also be worth watching depending on how much you enjoy watching Rio's breasts bounce – wearing a very small tank top and no bra, Rio jogs through a park as the camera shoots from almost every possible angle. Sure, it's repetitive, but its almost impossible to stop watching.
Love Affair is sure to please Rio's fans, new and old alike. She's personable, sexy, cute and sultry by various turns on the disc and the camera never fails to capture her incomparable figure in a breathtaking light. Yes, the disc does tend to be a bit heavy on the chest shots, but the I would suspect that most of Rio's fans won't be bothered by that at all.
